Are there any tumors that appear in the throat and stay for a long period of time non-cancerous?

Hello,
I noticed a lump in my throat a little above the atoms apple. The lump doesn't hurt when i touch it or when its left alone. When i swallow no pain is experienced. Does anyone have any clue as to what this may be?
