In your article on cilantro. You refered to a study done on the implantation of amalgm fillings in the mouths of sheep. You also stated that after a six month period the amalgams where removed. The outocme was that only 5% of the mercury still remained and that the rest of the mercury leeched out into there biological systems. If so, wouldn't that pertain to human subjects as well, because that might eliminate the worry of those who are debating on extracting their amalgams due to the problem of mercury toxicity.

Let's see if we can get this right. When the amalgams are put in, they are 49-53% mercury. When they were removed from sheep after six months, they were 9-13% (I didn't check my article, but these are the numbers I remember.)

So, what you are suggesting is that the mercury has already moved into other systems of the body so that replacing amalgams in the teeth may or may not be as useful as chelation?

I do not know of studies on humans but I suspect that sheep chew differently than people, but even a very tiny contact with an amalgam mobilizes some mercury from the filling. People have varying degrees of sensitivity to mercury. There are ample studies to link mercury to multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, autism, and a host of other conditions ranging from allergies to disorientation. People who demonstrate symptoms are the ones who need to look hard at what might work best in their particular circumstances.

Does this help?

You mentioned that you had problems with the composites, so did you do the cilantro chelation with mercury fillings still in your mouth? A nutritionist suggested this would pull the mercury from the fillings....however if you can't afford to get the fillings removed, could the chelation be done anyway? Meaning would it be advisable to go ahead and do it?

Judy,

The first time I took cilantro, I took way too much and I did allow contact with the amalgams to occur . . . and this was an enormous mistake.

You can take cilantro if you are careful to avoid contact with the amalgams. You have to put the cilantro way in the back of your mouth and then rinse your mouth several times afterwards.

For the record, I am now mercury-free. In fact, I have replaced almost all the composites now also. I am using Cerec restorations in as many teeth as possible. While these still require a bonding agent, they are more inert than anything else I have used.

Ingrid,

After reading this site I'm pretty concerned that I recently did a pretty dumb thing. I suffer from system candidaisis and have read that garlic and cilantro can kill candida. I put a clove of garlic and a handful of cilantro in a blender with some water and gargled the solution several times. Although I spit it out (it burned and was awfully strong) I have several "silver" fillings. I suppose it's better that I spit it out but am wondering what I may have done?
