My concern is about plastic packaging. I have seen references on your boards about chemically stable plastics. A few months ago I began having many painful symptoms like very swollen, tender painful breasts, irregular cycles, insomnia and depression. My breast pain was so severe I was unable to hug my husband. All exercise ceased and things only became worse. I didn't seek medical advice because they probably would've put me on some synthetic hormones which I knew would only exacerbate the problem. I stopped drinking soy milk, taking evening primrose caps and everything else I could think of that would contain phytoestrogens. However I did continue a liquid minerals and stabilized oxygen drops I order from a small company out west. After several weeks of these symptoms I came to realize the oxygen drops had a horrible chemical smell whereas before they were tasteless and odorless. I firmly believe the nature of the drops (Caution: HIGHLY CAUSTIC on the label) caused the soft plastic bottle to leach into the product. I have done research on the internet and learned that plasticines when ingested wreak havoc on the endocrine system and even mimick hormones in the body (xeno-estrogens) which can be stored in the body tissues for decades...YIKES !!! I have written the company a lengthy letter over 2 weeks ago and have yet to get a response. Can anyone out there advise me where to go from here? How do I go about cleansing after an experience like this? Would chelation help? Do I contact the FDA? or who if I do not get a response. Thanks for any and all advice.
P.S. 2 days after I stopped the drops, I slept for the 1st time in weeks and it took about 4 days for my breast pain to subside where I could resume my normal activities

This is a very important post.

The subject is enormous. I know the owner of one of the better bottled water producers and asked her why she uses plastic bottles. She said they tested glass and found that water is such a brilliant solvent that it leeches chemicals from glass as well as plastic!

Udo Erasmus, the dean of oils and fats, says that the oil industry tested all plastics and only found two that were chemically stable. Both were Danish, and these are used by the higher end oil companies such as Barleans and Omega Nutrition.

I have been discussing development of an experimental herbal product that would help remove these residues from the body. I have actually been discussing this for several months now with the owner of one laboratory that produces for Sacred Medicine Sanctuary. Since no one has done it before, we would be starting with theories and moving accordingly.

From an energetic standpoint, fire neutralizes water so anything hot and pungent should reduce the symptoms of imbalance, but those seem to have subsided when you eliminated intake of phytoestrogens (an unfortunate term but one we might have to use anyway.) Plants do not contain any hormones, just precursors, but you still may want to reduce those precursors.

It would be easy to write books on the hazards, but the treatment is another matter. I think composite fillings and dental bonding agents are much worse than plastic packaging, but I seriously doubt that proclaiming this from the rooftop will do any good at all. Moreover, complaints to federal agencies will be ignored because they require a few hundred million of science before they even fill something properly. Were it otherwise, we wouldn't be faced with so many toxic substances in our food and NutraSweet would have been long since banned.

I'm afraid people are on their own here, but you seem very well-informed indeed so this is the first step and if you'd like to try our preliminary ideas, I'll see if we can put something in a bottle.

Thank you Ingrid for your speedy reply but most of all for giving this most important topic its own heading. I am interested on detoxing from these plasticines I ingested and I am still waiting to hear from the company. I feel they should be accountable for their product and the potental damage it can do to people. Having had zero response from them makes me feel like they are dismissing me or else they hope I will go away. I am not going away but slowly building my case. If anything, they should pay for any and all treatment that I need after this ordeal. Thanks for all that you do and your plethora of invaluable information you most generously give. I'll keep this topic updated on my findings.
Sincerely, Libbye

Libby,

If the company were to acknowledge a problem with their packaging, they would expose themselves to a host of lawsuits so they will obviously ignore you or give you some flimsy reassurance that whatever your problems, they are not caused by what you suspect.

You know the doctor who developed brain cancer and attributed the cause to cell phones? As if the cancer weren't hair raising enough, the judge threw out the case because of lack of sufficient evidence to suggest a direct causal relationship between the cell phone and his medical condition.

While I am the first to support activism and have probably signed a few hundred petitions in the last year, I think one is responsible for one's own health so regardless of who pays the bill, you need to get well as quickly as possible.

I'll call the lab and see how long it would take them to put together some trial bottles of our preliminary ideas around how to deal with the hormonal imbalances caused by estrogenic constituents in plastics.

Has the formula been developed yet? I looked up various formulas on the internet. Surprisingly, one bosted a significant amount of tumeric. Hmmm. Others had ingredients such as Black Cohosh. I am not sure that raising progesterone in response to raised estogen is the solution. I would much rather just lower the estrogen to normal levels. But it works for some.

Everyone has a different understanding of balance. The most absurd in my book is to try to balance estrogen with testosterone. This is real Tarzan-Jane thinking. The next is the estrogen-progesterone theory. I think it has some merit, but I much prefer to use heat to evaporate water! I.e., use spices and things containing acids, like berries.

Hi, I hope this is the proper place on your site to post this question to you Ingrid. Two years ago I gave birth to my first child and continue to breastfeed, of course substantially less now than in the begining. It seems that my vaginal tissue has thinned and a small patch of skin has even lightened near my urethra. It seems to be a low estrogen problem according to recent blood work. I have never heard of this happening to a woman who is nearly 30. I was presribed an estrogen cream, but a deep feeling inside myself just won't even let me open the tube. I don't trust it. My husband and I would like to get pregnant again within the year, but not if I am as off balance as it seems. Is this part of my Saturn return in Cancer? (skin, deficiency, motherhood) Is this part of Pluto's transformative energy on my Sag. Sun, Merc, Venus, and Neptune? Where do I start to regain my balance? My DOB is 12/06/1974, Goshen NY at 7:38pm. Thank you so much for any insight/advice you can offer.
